You can choose where the pop up calendar shows on your screen by clicking of the properties menu. There are several other options available such as how many months to show and other display parameters.

Here are the keyboard shortcuts for the Date Selection Calendar

The following keyboard commands can also be used to change the current month.

PAGE UP (VK_NEXT) Move to the next month.

PAGE DOWN (VK_PRIOR) Move to the previous month.

HOME (VK_HOME) Move to the first day of the current month.

CTRL + HOME Move to the first visible month.

CTRL + END Move to the last visible month.

Selecting a nonadjacent month

When a user clicks the name of a displayed month, a pop-up menu appears that lists all months within the year. The user can select a month on the list. If the user’s selection is not visible, the month calendar control scrolls its display to show the chosen month.

Selecting a different year

If the user clicks the year displayed next to a month name, an up-down control appears in place of the year. The user can change the year with this control. The month calendar control updates its display for the selected year when the up-down control loses focus. The related keyboard commands are:

Schedule XP and Microsoft Access 2010

If you are running both Schedule XP, which uses the 2007 runtime, and Access 2010 here is a tip. Microsoft Access 2010 will attempt to  open up any type of Access database that you use on the computer. Access 2010 will not load Schedule XP correctly. The simple solution is to right click on the shortcuts that you use to open Schedule XP and choose which version of Access is responsible for opening it.  You will find it under the General Tab near top. The button is “Opens With”. Clicking that button will allow you to choose the Runtime version of Microsoft Access.

How to make Schedule XP run faster.

Add as much ram as you can to the computer
Get rid of unnecessary programs on running in memory
Make sure your anti-virus software isn’t scanning .accdb or .accdr files
Don’t run Internet intensive tasks like music and videos while using Schedule XP
Mozilla FireFox takes up a lot of active memory. Minimize Internet browsing while scheduling.
Don’t keep programs open that aren’t being used.
When using Schedule XP in a shared folder…. Keep the path simple. “c:\worldpt” instead of “c:\test\here\secure\worldpt”
Most computers need to be shut down completely at least every couple days.
Disable background gradients in the user preference settings of Schedule XP
Turn off Appointment Confirmation in the user preference settings of Schedule XP
Set Start Up form to Schedule in the user preference settings of Schedule XP
Maximize the network speed on your local area network.
Create a maintenance checklist for each computer that includes when to get windows updates, defrag the hard drive, back up files, etc.

How do I clean the database?

Over time records are created in Schedule XP that are not completed. This occurs when data entry is started and then discontinued in favor of another task. This includes appointments, patients, and task related data. Database Maintenance is found on the Utilities Menu and can be run to clean up incomplete data. You should run this procedure at least once a month.

Note.. If you run Database Maintenance while someone else is scheduling a patient their partially completed entry will be deleted. Wait until no one is using the system for about 30 seconds before you run it.

When a clinician leaves the practice…Delete them?

The only time you should delete a resource is when they were entered by mistake. Schedule XP links patient appointments to the resource and time slot they were scheduled on. Deleting a resource will effectively delete all appointments seen by that resource in the past. When you archive a resource instead of deleting them it allows the computer to maintain data integrity while not allowing any more appointments to be scheduled with them. The resource will not show on the schedule options but will still show on the Schedules form. You can always un-archive a resource if they come back.

Schedule XP over a VPN connection

Not a great idea. One of our users attempted it but it was waaaaaay toooo slow. They eventually came to the idea that if they needed to schedule a patient at their sister clinic, which is also using Schedule XP, LogMeIn would work. I used it once and would only recommend it in a pinch. It is possible to set up Schedule XP to handle multiple sites.
